How I love fall

I love fall and most importantly, the smells of fall. That's why tonight after I spent all day cleaning my house, I decided to make something that makes my house smell wonderful. I normally have candles from my Dad that do that, but since I have nothing to do I figured I would bake and therefore have something to snack on as well. I normally like to make mulled wine for that but unfortunately Mother Nature didn't get the memo that it's fall, and it's still been 85 degrees. So the mulled wine will have to wait until it gets chilly.

I've made these apple crisps once before but thought I would try again and try different apples. Today I decided to try Macintosh apples. I love how Granny Smith apples taste but thought I would throw a little red in it. Why not. Joe Blanton is pitching tonight (and hit his first career homerun!). I have done Fiji apples before but after tonight, I like the Macintosh ones better. Granny Smith is still my favorite but if you like sweeter over sour than go with Macintosh.

The reason I picked apple crisps are because they are super simple to make and take very little clean up!

1/4 cup powdered sugar
2 tsps cinnamon
1 apple

I added a little nutmeg as well (about half a teaspoon)

Preheat over to 250 degrees. Mix the powdered sugar, cinnamon and nutmeg in a small bowl. Thinly slice the apple(s) of choice and lay on parchment paper. Sprinkle the apples with the mix and place in the oven for two hours, turning every half hour. Remove and put on cooling rack and enjoy :-)

I do have to say, for Christmas I would love to get one of these!

The Start

So I'm starting this blog because I seem to have people asking me for recipes all the time. I love sharing them as much as I love trying to make something new. I'm not posting one now but plan to make at least one thing tomorrow so stay tuned! :-)
